NoFollow was good in theory, but generally ineffective in fighting spam. No matter what it's going to happen, so blogs might as well return to dofollow so that legitimate commentators can at least get some link love.

Leaking link juice should be a worry from the past now. Google's algorithm has advanced far past this now, as they have introduced their branding SERPS, local Search, product search and News tickers etc.

For what may (or may not ;) ) be link juice lost, it's definitely worth the added sense of community on a website.
